Prepare before joining the room
A smooth session starts before the first encounter. Open the launcher, finish any available update and check that the game opens normally. Close a duplicate game window if you accidentally launched twice. Give your connection and computer time to finish a large download before judging how a live match feels.
For a group session, agree on the channel, room and intended mode in advance. A short shared checklist saves time that would otherwise disappear into finding the right lobby or discovering a different setting after everyone is ready.
Choose equipment you can judge
Open your inventory and inspect the equipment you intend to use. Start with a combination you recognise so a poor encounter does not leave you unsure whether the cause was an unfamiliar weapon, positioning or timing. Check the equipment shown before returning to the lobby, especially if you changed something between sessions.
Change one part of your setup at a time. If you replace every item and alter your controls together, the next result will tell you very little about what helped. A familiar baseline is useful whether you are learning the game or comparing a new choice with your usual setup.
Keep your view and audio comfortable
Choose display and control settings that let you track movement consistently. Test basic movement and aiming in an appropriate practice session before making a major adjustment during a team match. A comfortable setting is one you can repeat; copying another player’s preference is not a substitute for checking it yourself.
Set audio so relevant game sounds remain understandable. If music makes it difficult to follow the action, adjust the balance before the match. Keep changes modest, test the result and return to the lobby once you know what you changed.
Read the room before Ready
Compare the selected map, game mode and team. Ask whether you are practising together or facing each other, then check that the room matches that plan. Give other players enough time to load and confirm readiness rather than repeatedly changing settings as they arrive.
If you are trying to reproduce a problem, keep the setup consistent. Note the map and mode, team positions and the stage where the issue appears: lobby, loading, first spawn, a later encounter or the match result. Changing the entire setup between attempts makes a useful comparison much harder.
Finish, review and choose the next step
After a completed session, review one thing you wanted to learn. Was the equipment comfortable? Did you keep contact with the team? Did the room behave as expected from start to finish? Use your own observations alongside the available result rather than treating a single number as the whole story.
Read the progression page for current reward guidance and the update journal for completed changes. Reward rules can change, so this checklist does not promise a fixed amount for every match. For your next session, keep the useful parts of your setup and make one deliberate adjustment. Consistent preparation makes both playing and reporting problems easier.
